The Anaesthetist Gerard Furlong Has Enjoyed A Long And Successful Career

Doctor Gerard Furlong is a graduate of St Bartholomew’s university. He managed to graduate in 1992 with honours and left to start his vocation working as an aneasthetist in a number of hospitals across the UK.

The role of the anaesthetist is definitely an extremely important part of providing a good quality of health care to affected individuals. Ged Furlong whilst working as an anaesthetist was responsible for an array of responsibilities for the individuals he cared for. These involved pre-op analysis of individuals, consulting with the surgical team carrying out the surgery, producing an individual anaesthesia program for every patient and post-op care and supervision of subjects. As anaesthetists are perioperative medical doctors it gives them the opportunity to work in several disciplines within the field of medicine. During his career the anaesthetist Gerard Furlong has worked in the fields of obstetrics, inside the ICU (intensive care unit) at Coventry and Warwick medical center and also at the Trauma elective ward in Dunganon hospital in Northern Ireland. During his career Doctor Furlong came to enjoy his work in the obstetrics ward the most right after realizing that he had a wonderful natural talent for giving epidurals to women at the business end of pregnancy. Gerard Furlong is a long standing associate of a number of professional organizations. He is a regular contributor of articles and he frequently attends conferences both as a speaker and as a visitor. His expert understanding has been used in several research projects that include on the HL7 CDA execution guide for SCATA (Society for Computers And Technology in Anaesthesia). Outside the world of medicine Ged has many passions which includes travel, wind-surfing and he has taken up golf although as yet he is still looking for the perfect golf swing.
